The idea for ElleVet Sciences originated from a kitchen table conversation which was the first of many that ultimately led to this groundbreaking company. Does CBD hold the promise of being the next frontier in animal health?
In the beginning, Amanda Howland and Christian Kjaer, ElleVet Science's co-founders, felt there was a huge opportunity in that question: to create something life-changing for animals, and they took the leap with a commitment to doing everything with intention and integrity. It has been several years and, since then, that idea in the kitchen has grown to become a company that is a world leader in cultivating CBD + CBDA products for pets, a leader in scientific discovery, and has grown to become a company with locations pretty much everywhere: offices scattered throughout the US and all over the globe.
Initially, Amanda and Christian spent an entire year buried in their research, attempting to figure out exactly how to build a truly moonshot of a product. When the country was shutting down due to COVID-19, Amanda and Christian saw the opportunity to be of great help to homeless pets, a group of the pet population they had not been able to reach prior. So they formed the ElleVet Project and flew to California, where there are the greatest numbers of homeless pets. They spent the summer of 2020 providing free veterinary care to these lovely, however underprivileged, pets. The project is now a registered 501(c)3 organization and is expanding to the point of providing free veterinary care across the entire country.
Amanda and Christian managed to drive ElleVet Science's growth to such an extent that they had to move to a larger building every year until they found a space large enough to accommodate their growth as a company. (And I have a feeling, this will trend will only continue, considering their pace thus far.)
